Killer Brownies is the first book in the Sea Glass Beach Mysteries by Amelia Pine. The main character is Paige Andrews, a milliner who traded Beverly Hills deadlines for a cozy hat shop in Sea Glass Beach, a small town on the California coast.
Paige moved to a cozy beach town for a fresh start. Instead, she found the town's famous food influencer dead on the beach and surrounded by crumbs from a batch of Paige’s killer brownies. Things get worse when one of Paige’s closest friends becomes a prime suspect.
With everyone asking questions, especially the sheriff, Paige puts her love of mysteries to the test and starts digging into the sun-soaked secrets of Sea Glass Beach. It doesn't take her long to realize that someone wants her to stop sleuthing. Permanently.
Reasons to Read Killer Brownies
Killer Brownies is fun, heartfelt, and hard to put down!
Paige Andrews is exactly the kind of amateur sleuth you want to spend time with. She is smart, witty, and just a little bit too stubborn for her own good. And she has a delightfully unique and interesting job. When was the last time you met a milliner?!
Paige's circle of friends is also a joy to hang out with. They are a tight-knit, loyal, and slightly chaotic group who know how to support each other when things get messy. They add heart and plenty of laugh-out-loud moments to the story.
The setting is also a real treat. Sea Glass Beach is one of those places you want to visit in real life. It's small, charming, beachy, and breezy. Paige's little cottage is cozy as can be and provides the perfect headquarters for sleuthing, baking, and meetings with her friends in the Beachside Dining Club.
The mystery shines as well. Despite his fame, the victim was not well-liked, so there are plenty of suspects to keep you guessing until you get to the satisfying conclusion.
The bonus recipes at the end are the final sweet treat. The Killer Brownies really are to die for!
Killer Brownies is available in paperback, ebook, and audiobook formats. The paperback is 292 pages. The audiobook is 8 hours and 53 minutes long and narrated by Bobbie Gentili.
