Local detective Calvin Capone (yes, that Capone’s great-grandson) starts digging, and suddenly Delilah’s dream restaurant is on the chopping block. To clear her aunt and get the dough going again, Delilah has to solve the case herself. But in a town that loves its secrets almost as much as its pizza, one wrong move could cost her everything.

Six Feet Deep Dish is witty, twisty, and sharp as a pizza cutter. It has everything cozy mystery readers love: a sleuth who jumps off the page, a delightful setting, a page-turning mystery, a scene-stealing cat named Butterball, and laugh-out-loud moments that make you remember how fun and entertaining a cozy mystery can be.

Every character feels interesting and multi-dimensional. Delilah has a temper hot enough to match the kitchen heat but a soft spot for the people in her life. She’s stressed about payroll, furious at her ex, and still somehow finds room to care about her aging aunt and a cat the size of a small ottoman. It’s impossible not to root for her. Her counterpart, Detective Calvin Capone, is a steady presence but with enough spark to keep things exciting. And Butterball the cat steals every scene he’s in unless it’s already being stolen by Delilah’s delightful Aunt Biz.

The story is fast-paced; something new is always happening as Delilah plows through the investigation. It feels like everyone has a secret, and the plot takes quite a few twists and turns before the action-packed ending. Along the way, there are laugh-out-loud moments and heartwarming bits that make you adore the characters.

You finish the story hungry for pizza and curious about the next book in the series. Fortunately, Six Feet Deep Dish ends with several really amazing recipes, including a satisfying deep dish pizza.
