Caturday Crime is the first book in the Cat Rescue Mystery Series by Amanda Flower. The main character is Kinley Remington, a twenty-something bank worker in a small Ohio River town.

Kinley is stuck in a dull job at the local bank and ruled by an unpleasant boss who makes workdays feel eternal. But when she's fired for breaking bank rules and leaving eccentric heiress Miss Penelope Slope alone in the vault, things officially hit rock bottom.

Then, Miss Penelope's famous diamond necklace vanishes, and Kinley, determined to make amends, pays a visit to the heiress's sprawling, cat-filled mansion. To her surprise, Miss Penelope isn't angry. In fact, she admits to taking the necklace herself and promises to clear Kinley’s name.

Unfortunately, before she can, Miss Penelope is found murdered...and Kinley becomes the prime suspect.

Now, with the local police hot on her trail and a dozen rescued cats relying on her, Kinley is forced to become an amateur sleuth. Armed with curiosity, courage, and a pack of mischievous feline companions, she embarks on a journey to solve the crime, clear her name, and discover a new path for her life.

What she finds is that even the smallest clues and paws might lead to the truth.

Reasons to Read Caturday Crime

Amanda Flower is a USA Today bestselling author, Agatha Award winner, and Mary Higgins Clark Award nominee. She has written over 50 mysteries and consistently crafts cozy mystery books full of heart, humor, and suspense.

Caturday Crime is a delightful mix of mystery, feline antics, and amateur sleuthing in a small town setting. The story has an original premise and gives you a sleuth to root for.

Kinley isn’t merely investigating a crime, but also trying to save a cat rescue and find direction in her life. The victim, Miss Penelope, is a kind, sympathetic character. She was Kinley's friend and an integral part of the community. You can't help but try to solve the mystery alongside Kinley to see justice for Miss Penelope and the rescue cats.

The cadre of cats takes center stage and becomes Kinley's unlikely allies in unraveling Miss Penelope's shocking demise. Amanda Flower's affection for felines shines through every pounce and purr. The plot is peppered with heart-tugging adoption stories, humorous hijinks, and cat-care tidbits.

The cat rescue theme was inspired, in part, by Amanda’s experiences with cat rescue and her adopted cats. In the last four years, she and her husband, David, have saved over 20 cats through adoption and Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR), a humane method for managing feral and stray cat populations. All of the profits from Caturday Crime go toward their cat rescue efforts.
